Marietta Moose Lodge #1823 - "The friendliest place in town"
WOTM-Women of the Moose

Hello Co-Workers,

Happy New Year!  The 2019 fall and holiday season certainly was busy and productive for the WOTM.  Thank you to all who have helped the lodge/chapter and our Community, whether it was cleaning the River Trail, preparing and serving meals at the lodge, decorating for the Holidays, buying and donating items for the Kid’s Christmas party, Christmas gifts for the Secret Santa program or one of the various other ways our members have contributed to the success of our chapter. Working together, we have accomplished much, and it has been a great year.

The second annual WOTM purse auction was held on October 23, 2019 and raised $3,728.  Proceeds for this event benefited Mooseheart and Moosehaven Christmas in October.  Thank you to everyone who donated purses for the silent auction as well as the live auction.  A huge thanks goes out to all the ladies and brothers who help set up for the event.  Thank you to Paula Bigley and Keelan McLeish for doing a fantastic job running the live auction.

Cheryl Hall held her Green Cap fundraiser consisting of a basket of goodies to cook a Thanksgiving dinner and this year raised over $450.00 for the Moosehaven tricycle fund.  The winner of this fundraiser was Bruce Martin.  Congratulations Bruce!

Our Thanksgiving Dinner was held on November 16, 2019 and we served over 150 dinners.  We would like to thank everyone for volunteering whether it was helping in the kitchen, donating desserts or helping with the various fundraisers, your help was greatly appreciated.

The Kid’s Christmas party was held on December 14, 2019 with over 50 children in attendance.  It was a fun time for the kids and grand kids of our members.  It was quite an enjoyment watching the way their faces lit up as they experienced the magic of Christmas.

Thank you, Santa, for stopping by to visit each and every child including Mary Lou Ullman who sat on Santa’s lap!  The monies made from various events of the WOTM, such as the meals we sell and 50/50’s, fund not only the kids Christmas party, but various donations we make to community charities such as the Gospel Mission, Boys and Girls Club, the Community Action Secret Santa program and local food banks, just to name a few.  Your past and future support of these fund raisers is greatly appreciated!

Tammie Sunderman donated an Ohio State Christmas Tree full of OSU decorations to be raffled off as her Community Service fundraiser for December.  She raised over $375.00.  We drew the winner after the Kid’s Christmas Party and the winner of the tree was Nancy McNamee.  Congratulations Nancy!

It has been a great year at our Marietta Moose Lodge, and we look forward to a fabulous 2020.  Watch the white boards, newsletters, phone app, and emails for upcoming events.  If you recently joined our chapter and have not already attended an orientation session, you must do so in order to be eligible to participate in any drawings that are held in the social quarters.  Orientation for WOTM is held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM.  Please consider attending the WOTM meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 PM in the Buckeye Room.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to see an officer or send us an email.  The meetings are your opportunity to share your ideas and opinions of how to make 2020 an even better year.

Thank you!
